About

The Harris Center is the training clinic associated with the Clinical Psychology Doctoral Program at the University of Kentucky. Advanced PhD students, under the supervision of licensed psychologists, have continuously offered low-cost, high quality psychological services to the Lexington community since 1976. We are now providing some services via Telehealth, allowing us to offer services across Kentucky.

Mission
1. Provide training to the next generation of clinical psychologists in evidence-based assessment and treatment
2. Offer the best available treatment and assessment to our patients in order to reduce specific symptoms and improve quality of life

Values
At the Harris Center, we believe that everyone deserves to live a meaningful and fulfilling life. Because of this, we believe that all people should have access to the highest quality mental health care available, regardless of their identity, culture, language, history, geographical location, insurance status, or ability to pay.  We believe that an evidence-based approach to treatment and training provides the strongest pathway for improving the lives of those affected by mental health difficulties.

Important Information About Our Services
While we strive to offer accessible and effective care to as many patients as possible, our clinic may not be suitable for everyone seeking services. Some therapy needs may fall outside our scope of practice or may not align with our training model, which focuses on time-limited, skills-based mental health services. Similarly, certain assessments may exceed our clinic’s capabilities. If we determine that our clinic appears to be an appropriate fit for your needs, you will be added to the waitlist and notified when an opening becomes available. If we find that our clinic is not a suitable option for your care, we will provide referrals to appropriate community resources. Relatedly, if your needs or our clinic’s capacity change while you are on the waitlist and we can no longer meet your needs within our training clinic’s scope, we will make every effort to connect you with alternative providers as soon as possible.

Note about Waitlist Times
As a training clinic, we have limited capacity to take on new cases. While we aim to see patients in the order they join the waitlist, patient assignments are also based on matching needs with therapist and supervisor expertise and availability. This process may result in some patients waiting longer than others, and waitlist times can vary widely, from a few weeks to a year or more in some cases.

We appreciate your understanding as we balance providing quality care with the educational goals of our training program.
