Due to an exceptionally high demand for services, our current waitlists are longer than usual. As a training clinic, we have limited capacity to take on new cases. While we aim to see patients in the order they join the waitlist, patient assignments are also based on matching needs with therapist and supervisor expertise and availability. This process may result in some patients waiting longer than others, and waitlist times can vary widely, from a few weeks to a year or more in some cases. We appreciate your understanding as we balance providing quality care with the educational goals of our training program. If you need immediate assistance or alternative resources, please consider reaching out to other local providers for support during this time.

Important Information About Our Services
While we strive to offer accessible and effective care to as many patients as possible, our clinic may not be suitable for everyone seeking services. Some therapy needs may fall outside our scope of practice or may not align with our training model, which focuses on time-limited, skills-based mental health services. Similarly, certain assessments may exceed our clinic’s capabilities. If we determine that our clinic appears to be an appropriate fit for your needs, you will be added to the waitlist and notified when an opening becomes available. If we find that our clinic is not a suitable option for your care, we will provide referrals to appropriate community resources. Relatedly, if your needs or our clinic’s capacity change while you are on the waitlist and we can no longer meet your needs within our training clinic’s scope, we will make every effort to connect you with alternative providers as soon as possible.

INDIVIDUAL THERAPY
Step One: Phone Screening. If you are interested in initating therapy, the first step is to complete a brief phone screening (<30 minutes) to determine whether the difficulties you're experiencing are best addressed at the Harris Center. To schedule an initial phone screening, please click this link and select "NEW PATIENTS: Schedule an Initial Phone Screen." You can also call us at 859-257-6853 to schedule a time to complete your phone screening.
Step Two: Intake Assessment. If it seems like the Harris Center may be a good fit following your phone screening, you will be scheduled for an intake assessment. This will involve completing paperwork/questionnaires and meeting with an assessor who will ask you questions about your symptoms/experiences. This process will take about 2 hours and can be conducted in person at our Center or via Telehealth. The cost for the initial assessment is $20.00. During this appointment, you will discuss your therapy fee with your assessor; the Harris Center uses a sliding fee scale.
Step Three: Assigned a Therapist. After your intake, your assessor will discuss your information with our Center's Director. Your assessor will give you a call within a week to confirm that you have been accepted as a patient at the Harris Center. Then, you will be assigned a therapist who will contact you to set up your first session. In most cases, there is a wait before a therapist can be assigned to you.

ASSESSMENT

Step Two: Assigned an Assessor. After your phone screening, you will be asigned an assessor, who will complete the psychological testing with you. In most cases, there may be a wait before an assessor can be assigned. Once your assessor has been assigned, they will give you a call within a week to set up your first testing session.
